Personal history before the war

Will, as he was known was born on the 21st August 1917 at the Quarter, Morghew Tenterden, Kent.

Will joined the Royal Horse Artillery at Woolwich, I believe this was before the outbreak of the Second World War.

Wartime experience

On Christmas Day 1941 while serving with Hong Kong & Singapore Royal Artillery 8th Coast Regiment, Will was taken prisoner of war following the battle of Hong Kong.

He embarked the hell ship Lisbon Maru on the 25th September 1942 and between the 1st and 2nd of October 1942 Will was one of the 828 men who sadly lost their lives.
